Hvar

An island in the Adriatic Sea

The island of Hvar, and especially the town of Hvar and the neighboring historic town of Stari Grad are among the most popular destinations on the Adriatic. The remains of a wall built by a long list of conquerors descend towards a wide promenade that borders the glistening blue sea and a strange fishing port. The marble streets reveal one of the largest squares in Dalmatia, the esteemed Cathedral of St. St. Stephen’s and Renaissance Theater.
